The founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, coined the phrase masakatsu agatsu literally translating to "true victory, self victory."
The purpose, it is said, of Aikido is not to win fights. The true purpose of Aikido is not to fight at all. The way to accomplish this is to first master one's own self and actions. When one is not angered and one is in control then one can avoid fighting and resolve conflicts by other means.
This is the perfect gift for the martial arts student upon obtaining the first rank of black belt. This would also be an ideal gift to a school or sensei on the opening of a school or in celebration of an anniversary of the school's opening
