The Body and Mind are One in Japanese is which is read ken zen ichi nyo.The Japanese expression ken zen ichi nyo is a Martial Arts term which literally translates as "The Fist and Zen are One". The kanji (read ken) means "Fist" and represents the body and (read zen) meaning Zen represents the mind or spirit. (read ichi) means one and (read nyo) means "are". This design is written vertically with Master Takase's seal and signature in the lower left hand corner. Japanese is commonly written both horizontally and vertically and both are correct. This is an original, hand-lettered work of art by Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase. The artwork is created at the time of the order and is not a print and is not massed produced - these are original works personally created by Master Takase. Because this is hand-lettered art the actual art will differ slightly from the image shown - making this a completely unique work - Master Takase does take great care to faithfully reproduce the design shown. We offer two scroll sizes. Our medium size scroll is approximately 12 1/2" W x 43" H. Our large scroll is approximately 18" W x 72" H. The scroll arrives ready to display.
