These Japanese scrolls are hand drawn by Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase. The scrolls themselves are made with high-quality silk and are designed to last generations. Each work is a unique piece hand-lettered and signed by Eri Takase.
Takase Studios features beautiful Japanese Scrolls with hand-lettered calligraphy by Master Japanese Calligrapher Eri Takase. There are two sized scrolls the Medium which is 12 1/4" W x 43" H and the Large which is 18" W x 72" H. And while the scroll sizes are fixed we would be delighted to work with you to create custom calligraphy that matches your needs and taste.
The scroll onkochishin or Respect the Past, Create the New is a favorite saying of Master Takase. The saying reminds us that is only from knowing and respecting what has come before that we can begin to create the truly new.
In April 2006, the first of this scroll design was purchased by Warner Brothers to appear in the new Clint Eastwood movie "Red Sun, Black Sand." We can't wait to see it up on the big screen!
